Hillerød Municipality manages a road network of 392 km. By mandate, the road network is inspected quarterly for potholes and other urgent issues to ensure proper road safety. Since 2021, Hillerød has been using Pluto's AI to enhance their safety inspections. Based on the results, it was decided in 2023 to also use Pluto to measure the road condition.
“Humans easily lose concentration when multitasking. Looking for urgent road damages and other issues whilst driving in traffic requires concentration over extended periods. Today, we are able to alleviate this human limitation using Pluto's AI.”
Insurance cases that before were time consuming, in terms of paperwork and providing proper documentation, can now be handled in just a minute. High quality images with time-stamps and locations can be found on Pluto Map and provide sufficient documentation to close a claim. Pluto has also been integrated into Hillerøds task management system. This allows for registrations of objects such as potholes, tilted roads signs, etc. to be transferred as tasks seamlessly via an API into a third-party system. Hillerød has generated more than 2,500 urgent tasks via Pluto over the last two years helping them become more proactive.
"We use Pluto's solution to traversing the our entire road network four times a year. Three times a year, issues requiring immediate action are the focus of the inspection. Once a year the analysis is used to make an overall road condition assessment, including non-urgent damages like smaller cracks, which we can used for future planning of asphalt resurfacing.” - Bent von Müllen, Project manager.
